You can delete your Your Work Buddy account at any time. This page explains how to do it in the app, how to ask us to do it if you don't have the app, and exactly what happens to your data afterwards.
Delete your account in the app
These steps are the same on Android and iOS, for both clients and professionals.
Before you start: withdraw any wallet balance first. An account that is holding funds cannot be deleted, so your money is never lost.
- Open the Your Work Buddy app and sign in.
- Tap Menu, the ☰ icon at the right of the bottom tab bar.
- Scroll to the bottom of the More screen and tap Delete account.
- Optionally, tell us why you're leaving.
- If you signed up with an email and password, enter your password. (If you signed up with Google or Apple, you skip this step.)
- Tap Delete account, then Delete to confirm.
Your account is closed and removed straight away, and you will be signed out.
Delete your account without the app
If you don't have the app installed, or you only use Your Work Buddy on the website, you can ask us to delete your account by email. The website does not currently offer self-service deletion, so email is the way to do it.
- From the email address registered on your account, send an email to [email protected].
- Use the subject line “Delete my account”.
- We check that the request came from the account holder, delete the account within 30 days, and confirm by email when it is done.
What happens to your data
Deleted immediately
These are destroyed as soon as your account is deleted, and are never archived:
- Your password
- Linked Google, Apple or Facebook sign-in connections
- Active sessions, signed-in devices and push notification tokens
Archived for 7 years, then permanently deleted
Your account is removed from Your Work Buddy straight away: your profile disappears, and nobody on the platform can find, view or contact you. We are required to keep some information for legal, tax, accounting and fraud-prevention purposes, so it is moved to an archive kept separately from active accounts. It is not used for anything else, and it is permanently deleted 7 years after your account is deleted.
- Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender and profile photo
- Identity verification (KYC) details and the ID documents you uploaded
- Saved bank account details
- Your wallet
- Your notifications, notification settings, saved items and rate settings
- Marketplace ads, your cart, and any testimonial you gave us
Kept in place, under your name
Some records don't belong only to you. Conversations, contracts and reviews are part of the other person's history too, and payment records are part of our accounts. These stay where they are and show your name marked as a deleted account, so they still make sense to everyone else. When your archive is permanently deleted after 7 years, your name is removed from them.

- Job posts, proposals, submitted work and scheduled meetings
- Contracts, payments, payouts, refunds and subscription records
- Reviews and ratings
- Marketplace orders, listings and reviews
